Geographic Location and followers
Hinduism is the world's oldest organized religion with 900 million followers, making it the third most popular religion in the world today. Hinduism started in India, as a series of teachings, and is the main religion of India until today. About 80% of the Indian population are Hindus and there are about 30 million more Hindus that live out side of India. Hinduism started to gain popularity in the 20th century, starting in the West, however, due to traditional differences not many people converted to Hinduism in the West. But the Hindu though has influenced the West indirectly by the way of religious movements and the adoption of Indian practices for health or relaxation reasons.
