religious practices/types of worship
Even though sages, or religious leaders of the Hindus religion sometimes lead Hindu practices and worship, most hindus carry out daily and individual worship most often times lead by the father of a family. Most of the time, each family devotes their practices to specific deities through the use of home shrines as well as sculpture or godly figures.
Meditation is also a huge part of Hindu worship. Some Hindus even decide to abandon the worship of Gods in general in order to engage in complete meditation of "Realization of the Self".

Hatha Yoga:
Hatha ("ha-tuh") Yoga first started in the 15th century by a yogic sage, Swami Swatamarama. The word hatha comes from the Sanskrit word 'hat' meaning sun and 'ha' meaning moon. The purpose of this practice is to locate and activate the center energy and to raise the dominant spiritual power within each Hindu. Hatha yoga is believed to balance one's body through physical postures and exercises, controlled breathing and the calming of the mind; all through meditation.
Hatha yoga has been widely adopted some cultures in the west as a physical exercise or even as psychological exercise.
Puja (Pooja): Pooja in Sanskirt means 'reverence of worship' thus, this is a Hindu ritual in which most Hindus perform as an offering to various deities, specific people or special guests. They do this by gazing upon an image of a sacred power or deity and believe that it provides a connection to the god or goddess. Usually Hindus practice this in their own homes, every morning after bathing and getting dressed but prior to eating or drinking their first meal. However, since Puja is a ritual performed by Hindus world wide there are different variations of Puja that may take place in different locations or at different times of the day. Puja can also include the offering of puja: an object such as flowers, food, or even lighting a candle. Some Hindu priests chant prayers while performing puja, and can be preformed with accompanies. This religious practice is sometimes done for the benefit for certain people who ask for blessings.
